WELCOME TO CITIZEN COFFEE

Citizen Coffee is committed to offering terrific coffee using 100% fair trade or direct relationship beans. We offer meticulously crafted espresso and single-origin brewed coffees at our kiosk inside the Natural Capital Center (Ecotrust) in the Pearl District of Portland, Oregon. We also offer an in-building catering service, serving brewed coffees and house-baked bagels, scones, muffins and cookies to attendees of business meetings and special events.

We are committed to telling the story of the coffee we serve. From the coffee farmers and the supply-chain dynamics affecting our choices, to the process of roasting and preparing superb coffee, an understanding of the interconnected pieces of the whole process enables us to act as citizens, and not “mere” consumers, when sipping our favorite beverage.

Citizen Coffee is the only Portland coffee venue that features Sustainable Harvest Coffee Importers direct-relationship coffee beans. Sustainable Harvest is a co-tenant of the Natural Capital Center, and is celebrated for having developed an innovative model of support and financing for small coffee growers in Central and South America, and in Africa. They have also developed a vast repository of information about the farmers and their concerns, which will be made available to customers of Citizen Coffee through our website and videos at our kiosk.

Citizen Coffee will attend the 2009 Let’s Talk Coffee™ program in Chiapas, Mexico, organized by Sustainable Harvest to establish direct connections between producers, traders, brewers and baristas, and through the latter, consumers. Our goal will be to invite our customers to join us, via our website videos and blogs.
